Dr McIlveen is one of a very limited number of female fertility specialists in Australia. Myvanwy is the only dedicated female fertility specialist in Newcastle and the Hunter Valley. Dr McIlveen graduated with honours from the University of Newcastle in 1993 where she also had the distinction of receiving the Blackwell Scientific Prize for Critical Reasoning. She undertook her initial specialty training at the John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. She has undertaken extensive sub-specialty training in Infertility and Reproductive Endocrinology both in Australia and at the University of Sheffield in Great Britain (a leading centre for infertility treatment and reproductive surgery in Europe) . She actively participates in research programs and publishes in medical and scientific journals. She is a member of the Fertility Society of Australia, the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and the European Society for Human Reproduction and Embryology making her well equipped to provide you with advice and assistance with the latest technology developments. She has a Masters degree in Reproductive Medicine and Human Genetics from the University of Sydney. In addition to IVF her interests include endometriosis, polycystic ovary syndrome, recurrent miscarriage and adolescent gynaecology. Laparoscopic and hysteroscopic procedures are her areas of surgical expertise.
